Latest Events at Kamp K9 WHAT'S HAPPENING ABKA I’m sure you’ve already received the email notice that Kamp K9 is now a member in good standing of the American Boarding Kennels Association. Pursuant to that, you might notice an attachment to this email…it’s a copy of the ABKA “Pet Owner Bill of Rights.” This is a good read for anyone who sends their dog here (or anywhere for that matter) for day care or boarding. I’ve always striven to hold myself ad my business to a very high standard, and now it’s easier for everyone to be on the same page with those standards available for all to see. (If for some reason you don’t get the attachment or you can’t open it, I’ll gladly print out a copy for you.) I invite all of you to visit the ABKA’s web site (there’s a new link to it at the top of the list of links below). There’s some good information there. THERE’S STILL TIME AND ROOM FOR THANKSGIVING BOARDING RESERVATIONS! Calls are beginning to trickle in for Christmas, but the phone is starting to ring a bit more frequently for Thanksgiving boarding, so if you were planning on having your loved one stay here during that week, by all means don’t wait much longer! PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOUR DOG OR CAT HAS ANY ALLERGIES OR OTHER ISSUES WITH TURKEY! (A side note: Where the HECK did this year go?!?!) Here’s a little note about my other life as a musician: I’ll be playing with the Bob Charest Band at The Gold Room on Warren Ave. in Portland (in the Joker’s complex) on Saturday, December 1st from 9pm-1am. A personal note: Today I think of two friends who have gone over the Rainbow Bridge, whose passages I’ve learned about yesterday and today. The first is Shadow, a lab/collie mix who came to Kamp K9 for overnight boarding with her sister Chloe. Shadow was a sweet-natured girl who was a joy to have here. The second, which hits close to home, is Spike, a black and white cat who was a companion to one of my sisters all his life. If you sat still for him, he’d lick your hand or wrist at exactly the same spot until you had to move because your skin would get raw. He lived through moves, dogs, and children to a very old age, until his body finally had enough. He was lucky to have had a good life … and a great mom.
INFO FEATURE: Holiday Safety for Your Pets Like I said earlier: Where the HECK did this year go?!?! We’re already staring down the barrel of another holiday season…as I sit and type this while a tropical storm … named NOEL, of all things! … passes by. Oh, the irony… Anyway, rather than regurgitate and retype information here, I’ll steer you toward an article found online: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/g/a/2007/10/30/petscol.DTL Hopefully this information will help you keep your pets as safe as they can be through the unique situations and challenges that the next couple of months can bring.
