The Latest Scoop
Open House 2010
Yes indeed, it’s that time again! This is something
we really look forward to. The Open House for this
year is going to be held on Sunday July 11th from
11am-3pm. It’s our chance to show the place off
a bit, and your chance to get an inside, intimate
view of all the areas of Kamp K9 that are usually
off-limits (due to the fact that there’s no separation
between human and dog traffic). This year, we’re
going to be adding something special, too…if you’re
already a customer of Kamp K9, you’re invited to
a special afternoon barbecue, taking place after
the Open House is over. And at this event, your
dogs are welcome to come and hang out in the play
yard while you enjoy some food and company.
East Yard to Reopen Soon
The warmer-than-usual weather certainly produced
its share of rain, but it also gave us a lot of
sunshine, and the grass in the east yard finally
had to be cut, which means that it’ll be time very
soon to let dog foot traffic back out there. We
don’t let dogs out there once the late winter thaw
has begun and the ground is wet and soft, because
their feet tear the ground, undefended by grass,
to shreds. We DID get to do some grass seeding out
there, which seems to be taking hold, and it ought
to be able to survive a pounding soon, so our plan
is to reopen the east yard mid-month. Remember:
a grassy yard means possible tick traffic, and we
don’t chemically treat our yard out of concern for
your dogs’ safety, so remember your flea/tick meds!
New Grooming Table
This might be a bit of a mundane news item, but
it’s the little things that are so exciting, you
know? After nearly 5 years of making do with a basic-schmasic
grooming table that’s too short for someone of Luc’s
height to use (even when propped up on 4x4’s), we
took delivery of a new fancy-shmancy table.
Oh, the back pain that it’s going to eliminate!
Why? Because at full height (this table is height-adjustable,
with a quiet electric motor) it’s significantly
taller! And because it’s got wheels, it can be moved
parallel to the wall when not in use, so even though
it’s larger overall, with a larger working surface
(woo-hoo!), it actually takes up less space in the
grooming area during down time. Lastly, it forced
us to re-think the placement of one of our high-velocity
dryers, as it can’t be hung from the bottom of this
new table (it’s metal, and the X-leg assembly doesn’t
allow the room for it). The new dryer placement
is actually better than it was before, making it
more versatile and easy to access and use, so that
was a pleasant surprise.
