Camper Profile: Bruno Mendelsohn

Unfortunately, this month’s profile is more of an obituary, for beloved Bruno and his mom, Ruth Mendelsohn. Our friend and customer for the past 2 years, Ruth passed away on February 18th after a long illness. Per Ruth’s wishes, Bruno became our dog as of her passing, but we didn’t have long with him, as he followed her precisely a week later, nearly down to the minute.

Bruno had been coming to Kamp K9 so frequently that he became more like a member of the family. He was the very definition of a tough old survivor; he was about 15 when he passed. Besides his age, he dealt with Addison’s disease (a condition in which the adrenal glands fail to produce enough adrenalin), hypothyroidism, congestive heart failure, and arthritis. He had several crashes but always bounced back and stayed his lovely self. That’s why it was such a shock when he passed (his heart finally gave out); we thought we’d have him for some time yet to come.

He loved his daily walks with his mom, and when he was here, liked to cruise around the play yard at his own pace, and was curious and happy around other dogs. We miss his dear sweet face terribly.

Bruno
