The Latest Scoop
Open House Details
As we mentioned last month, our 3rd annual Open
House will be taking place on Sunday, July 11th,
from 11am to 3pm. Here are some more details about
the event.
In the office, refreshments will greet you. You’ll
be given a tour through all areas of our operations,
including our Kitty Kamp, our grooming and feeding
areas, the dog interior "Common Room," a walk through
the west play yard, and through our house, ending
on the deck which overlooks the east play yard.
We’ll be happy to answer any questions you have
throughout your time here, which can be as long
as you like. After 3pm, when the public open house
is over, our established clients are welcome to
come for a burgers-and-franks cookout (for the humans).
At this time, their dogs will be welcome to come
and play while the grown-ups socialize. We hope
you can make it!
Please Keep Right
It’s been suggested that we paint a yellow line
at the end of our driveway to remind people to keep
to the right when entering & leaving Kamp K9.
When someone who’s waiting to get back out into
traffic sits in the middle of the driveway, it creates
a bottleneck. While we ponder the suggestion, in
the meantime, please remember to keep to the right,
so someone else might be able to come in while you’re
waiting to get out. Thanks a million!
It’s been how long?!?
June 15th marks the 5th anniversary of Luc becoming
the owner/operator of the business that is Kamp
K9. We couldn’t let the June newsletter go by without
some kind of mention of this fact...especially because
the past 5 years have gone by so unbelievably fast!
There’s not a lot that can be said at a time like
this without sounding trite and clichéd, so we’ll
just leave it at this: Thank you all for helping
us get this far, and here’s to the next five years
(at least)!
Please vote YES on 1
On this June’s ballot, the first question is a
"people’s veto" of tax legislation that was passed
by the state legislature last year. This tax law
has been sold as a shift of some tax burden off
Maine residents and onto out-of-state visitors.
The more well-known aspect of it puts new sales
taxes on services and labor, and some goods. Among
the lesser-known aspects: 1) Mainers will no longer
be able to itemize deductions on their income tax
returns; 2) It does nothing to address the issue
of Maine’s outrageous state spending; 3) You can’t
always count on large amounts of tourist dollars
every year; 4) YOU will also start to pay new sales
taxes on auto repair labor, and things like…dog
day care, pet boarding, and grooming! Your expenses
for pet care will rise, and yours truly will be
saddled with the additional burden of being a monthly
unpaid state revenue collector/reporter.
