Camper Profile: Bear
Forsley

This month you all get to meet Bear Forsley.
Bear is a recent addition to Kamp K9’s roster, having
graduated in the summer from puppy preschool at
Dances With Dogs in South Portland.
His mother,
Margaret Forsley, tells the tale of a mixed puppy
who was brought to a shelter in Arkansas. This particular
shelter, like many in the country, euthanizes animals
if they can’t be placed in a home within a certain
period of time. Bear was rescued from that shelter
before his time was up, and he was listed on Petfinder.com
and placed in a foster home.
Enter the Forsleys.
Margaret and her son, Eli, spotted him and immediately
felt that THIS was their puppy. Margaret says this
about the adoption process: "It was such a
pleasure to work with people that are so passionate
and dedicated about finding forever homes for these
wonderful animals. We arranged to pick Bear up in
Massachusetts and we are thrilled that he is a part
of our family."
She also tells us that "Bear was fostered by
a wonderful family in Arkansas that deserves kudos
for beginning the socialization and training process.
He came to us in June at 12 weeks and had impeccable
manners."
(Editor’s note: Oh, lucky you, Margaret!!)
He is
reportedly a mix of Chow, Golden Retriever, and
German Shepherd, the latter of which has earned
him a full, aristocratic name of "Bearon von
Forsley." He's a big boy who, at 9 months,
already rivals many of the fully grown Labrador
retrievers we have here, and he’s not done growing!
He is, however, very much a gentle giant. When playing,
he’s comfortable letting others have sway over him,
even when he could squash them like bugs. He’s got
an incredibly handsome face and natural "eye liner"
that brings out his dark brown eyes.
His mother
reports that he loves coming to camp very much (all
they need do is say the word "kamp" and he bolts
for the door), and enjoys his life with his 15-year-old
human brother Eli, his dog brother Hawk (a Shih-Tzu)
and cat brother Juan. Besides kamp, he also loves
the ocean and meeting new friends there, and his
best pal is the girl next door, a large Golden Doodle
named Lucy.
