Kamper Profile: Logan Peterson

Logan, besides being a really good-looking dog, is fairly unique among all the Kampers here, for the reason that he has spent nearly half of his young life at Kamp K9. He was adopted by Darlene Peterson of North Waterboro in late May of 2009, and on the first of June, at age 10 weeks, he started day care at Kamp K9.

This makes him just about the youngest dog we’ve taken in, but in his case, it was needed, as Darlene lives an hour from her workplace, and trips home to let him (and his young bladder) outside were out of the question. In fact, she had called here before she even took Logan home, and made sure all proper arrangements had been made. He has come here every weekday since, and is a part of normal, everyday life here.

He was just about as adorable a fluff ball as you could imagine, and seemed to fit in immediately. His ability to take things in stride served him well during his first days, and it wasn’t long before he was comfortable, and had made some good friends (chiefly a young Golden Retriever female named Dory; during Logan’s first few months, they were inseparable). His good-natured personality and playfulness has made him a great fit here from the get-go. It also endeared him to a lot of parents; many of you out there saw Logan during his infancy, as Luc couldn’t resist showing him to people (how often does a dog that young come along?), all of whom absolutely melted at the sight of him.

Of course, he’s the apple of Darlene's eye, and while he’s home with her, his favorite things include going on walks, chewing on Nylabones (his favorite!), and playing fetch with balls.

He’s almost 11 months old now, and has grown into a handsome, noble-looking Golden Retriever with a great deal of confidence and affection. This also translates into his home life; visitors to his home are treated to his warm greetings. We think of him here as "our boy," too, and we’re quite proud of him.

ADOPTION NEWS

To the left is Bruschi, a Yellow Lab/Terrier mix, recently adopted by Shawn & Jeanie Cohen of Windham. He’s funny, sweet, energetic, and a handful for his big brother, Brady (a very handsome, tall Yellow Lab mix). Congratulations to all of you!

If your organization has an event scheduled, or you’ve added another member to your family, Kamp K9 would love to get the word out! Let us know the details, and we’ll be happy to include the information in the next "The Straight Poop."
