The Latest Scoop
Sales
Tax
This past year the Maine State Legislature passed
a new law requiring providers of certain services
to charge 5% sales tax. The whole thing stinks;
it’s more expensive for you and a big monthly hassle
for us. Thankfully, there were enough signatures
gathered to force a vote on it, and so the new sales
tax on services such as those provided by Kamp K9
are on hold until June, when there’ll be a special
election in which this issue will be decided by all
of us voters. (Government in Maine has gotten silly
and expensive, hasn’t it? Make a law, and then have
people veto it in a costly special election.) We’ll
be sure to remind you as it gets closer, but we’ll
start saying it now: in June, please vote to repeal
this ill-conceived law!
2009 Holiday Season & Hours, Part II
Thanksgiving was a full and fun time here at Kamp K9! Rainy weather aside (grr…) all of our guests enjoyed themselves, and were particularly pleased with Thanksgiving dinner (chicken breast with mixed vegetables and squash on top of their regular food). The reaction to dinner was so cute…everyone just wolfed down supper!
The phone calls have begun for Christmas boarding
reservations, so we urge you to get your planning
done as soon as you can, and let us know. As we
are now accepting credit and debit cards, we are
also requiring deposits on holiday boarding reservations.
As for our hours: We’ll be closing early on Christmas
Eve, at 4pm. We’ll be closed Christmas Day for any
business, so boarding drop-offs will need to be
made by Christmas Eve. On New Year’s Eve, we’ll
be closing at 5pm.
