Camper Profile: Brugge Caola
Our Kamper Profile this month is about Brugge (pronounced “broozh”) Caola, a four-year-old brown Standard Poodle. She’s named after a historic city in Belgium where her people, Tony Caola and Brenna Hensley, were vacationing when they decided to get a poodle. She was born in Colebrook, N.H. at Crabapple Downs.
Brugge is definitely a happy girl, and if you needed to find an example of “full of it,” you could do worse than to look her way. Brugge is one of those social butterflies who wants everyone to play. She’s an equal opportunity playmate and accepts wrestling or simply running around the yard, leaping like a deer at times, with just about anyone who will join her. In her case, the Poodle adage “browns are clowns” is absolutely true; she probably could have done well in the circus, but her life of playing with other dogs at day care or laying on the couch is probably much better.
Having such an exotic name and "Cirque du Soleil"
sensibilities, it stands to reason that her tastes
run in the exotic vein as well, and some of her
favorite culinary moments happen with human food,
occasionally helping herself to some high-end fare.
Her people tell of one memorable occasion when they
were watching TV and left whole tri-tip roast on
the counter. She pulled it down and ate the whole
thing, knowing how angry they would get, but she
cared not one bit. It was tasty, and she knows all
too well that her people never stay mad for long.
Brugge has been coming to Kamp K9 since its "Paw
Prince" days 2005 and has since become our first
regular Standard Poodle grooming client. She sports
the streamlined "Town & Country" style,
and is a very patient girl up on the grooming table.
She’s been a wonderful pal for the past 3 years
+ and always brings the party with her!
Thanks to Brenna & Tony for bio information.

You might recall from last month’s
Profile of Kounselor Gracie Bergeron that she had been
dumped over a fence with another dog into someone’s
yard. That little dog was a white toy poodle mix, whose
fur was apparently so badly matted all over that he
could barely walk. After seeing our story, Cathy Crockett
of Pickett Paws forwarded us an update. He’s found a
great home in Tennessee and is living in the lap of
luxury now; his name is Jake and he has another dog
and a cat as housemates. Woo-hoo!
