The Latest Scoop
Success...Finally!
Thanks to all who came to our rain date Open House on July 12th! The folks who showed up (on such a nice day) were given a really nice look at Kamp K9, and had some pretty in-depth Q&A sessions with us. We’re very happy with the way it all went, and are pleased to call it a success!
Certifiable
Having experience in your field is of course extremely
valuable, which everyone knows, but at the same
time, education is a great thing, and learning more
about your field, or even re-learning things you
were taught before, helps keep you sharp. To that
end, Luc recently took the Pet Care Services Association
Level 1 Pet Care Technician course (he’s been doing
his job for over 4 years, but you gotta start somewhere,
right?) and now carries the title of Certified Pet
Care Technician. There are two more courses offered
through the PCSA which Luc plans to take: Pet Care
Tech Level 2, followed by Level 3 which will give
him the title of "Certified Kennel Operator." As
Martha Stewart would say: "Accreditation. It’s a
good thing."
Speaking of accreditation, Kamp K9 is also now
an accredited member of the Better Business Bureau,
further illustrating that we’re a business you can
trust. Information and links will start appearing
on the BBB’s web site very soon! (www.boston.bbb.org)
Web Site Updates
If you haven’t been there yet, or haven’t been in a while, please visit www.mykampk9.com. We’ve updated the slide shows for our cat room and for our exterior play yards. Significant changes include carpeting in the cat room, and all the new pea gravel that’s been spread out in the west play yard. We’d also love to hear your comments on the layout and the navigation through the site. What’s easy? What’s difficult? What’s missing? Let us know!
Rain’s Residual Health Issues
As much as we’d like to forget all that depressing weather we had over the last couple of months, its effects aren’t over just yet. Reports are coming in from veterinarians and pet owners about a spike in the number of foot pad infections stemming from feet that get wet and stay wet for long periods of time. That same wet-weather cause is also increasing the number of ear infections being treated lately.
One more thing: all the standing water left from rains has resulted in a boom in the mosquito population, so be aware of the swarms. You might consider switching your pet’s topical anti-flea/tick ointment, if it isn’t designed to protect against mosquitoes.
